Just as Jesus said in the Beatitudes, blessed are the poor and the hungry. Our mission is not just to love one another, but to make sure we spread the love of the Gospel everywhere.
We use both the Old Testament and the Gospels as the foundation for our faith and the inspiration for our daily lives. We put those teachings into practice at home and at work.
The Light of the World Church began in the year 1974. Juan Carlos Molina met Adielsa Soto and both started talking about starting an Assemblies of God Church here in Rochester, New York.
The first service of the new church took place on Seventh Street and Central Avenue. There were nine people in attendance is Sister Adielsa's home.
The church was known as the gypsy church because they rented several different locations throughout its early history. Among them was Sister Adielsa Soto's living room, a Russian church on Wilkins Street, Community Bible Church on Andrews Street, and Disciples of Christ Church on Flower Street.
By God's design, Luis Daniel Hernandez moved to Rochester in the year 1976. God called Luis Daniel Hernandez to the ministry in 1978. It has pleased the Lord to start diverse ministries and we have experienced growth every year since then.
God gave us a building at 488 North Goodman Street and after 12 years we finally moved to our present location 200 Child Street. By the grace of God, we have been able to minister to the greater Rochester community through outreach programs, the church Gospel choir, and other ministries of the church. On June 4th of 2016 Rev Luis D. Hernandez retired as the Pastor of Light of the World Church after 38 years and on June 11th 2016 we received as the new pastor Rev Ruben Serrano and First Lady Nilsa Serrano The Lord has been faithful.
